CFISD athletes sign letters of intent on National Signing Day 2021
Feb. 9, 2021โMore than 65 CFISD athletes signed letters of intent to play collegiate athletics for colleges and universities on National Signing Day, Feb. 3. "National Signing Day is always a great day for our school district," said Ray Zepeda, CFISD director of athletics. HOUSTON โ Four years of high school sports and Wednesday marked the day many were able to put pen to paper and advance to the college ranks on National Signing Day across the country. Here in the greater Houston area, local schools and districts were able to spotlight their male and female student-athletes with signing events on campus. AdThe Houston Independent School District held a virtual signing day event with over 80 male and female athletes signing, representing various sports like football, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf and cross country. HOUSTON โ National Signing Day has arrived once again as high school football players across the country signed on with their college of choice. The system is now in place for a December date along with the first Wednesday in February that has become a smaller event than in years past. As more high school athletes now aim for early graduation, the December option gives them a chance to enroll in college in January for the spring semester and take part in spring football camps. National Signing Day: 11 Memorial High School standouts sign dotted line
With tables spread across the Memorial baseball field and chairs in front for their parents, 11 Memorial High School student-athletes put pen to paper. Kidd was the lone soccer player to sign on the day from Memorial. "It's a great honor to have the opportunity and the ability to go into the Armed Forces," Wallace said. The Memorial softball team was the next to have multiple signees as Brianna Ellis signed to Auburn and Mia Garza signed with Drexel University. HOUSTON โ The Houston area is loaded with talent and National Signing Day began at 8 a.m. Wednesday in Texas City where twin brothers Armanti and D'Onta Foreman stuck with their early commitment and signed with the Texas Longhorns. It was a full house at HISD's signing day Wednesday afternoon. At Humble ISD's signing day, Summer Creek QB Aaron Sharp, once a Kansas State commit, instead had a change of heart and signed with UCLA. "This is a great day, something I've been waiting on since I was a kid. At Pearland Dawson, congrats to their group which was highlighted by wide receiver Tony Upchurch, who signed with LSU.
