AUSTIN, Texas – Texas has reached a settlement with one of the most visited pornographic websites on the internet.
On Friday, the Office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that the Lone Star State has secured a settlement with Multi Media LLC, the operator of the site “Chaturbate,” to ensure that the site complies with the age verification laws required by the state.

In March, Paxton sued the company for failing to follow the Texas law requiring pornography websites to implement age verification systems intended to protect minors from being exposed to obscene content. This led to several large porn sites, including PornHub, to suspend their operations in the state.
Companies violating the law face fines as high as $10,000 per day.
Additionally, sites could face another $10,000 fine per day if they illegally retain identifying information, as well as a massive $250,000 fine if a child is exposed to pornography due to incompliance by the company.
“It’s a very positive development that this company has decided to follow the law and begin reasonable age verification measures designed to protect Texas children from harmful material,” Attorney General Paxton said. “Other pornography companies should follow this example and willingly choose to do the right thing and abide by the law.”
