2 arrested in connection with Chambers County shooting

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas – A man and woman have been arrested in connection with a shooting that left two people injured in Chambers County earlier this month.

De Antaye Childress has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while Amber Lewis has been charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of deadly conduct.

According to Chambers County Sherrif Brian Hawthorne, the shooting occurred in the evening hours of April 13. Deputies responded to a call at a residence on Bailey Rd. in Anahuac. When they arrived at the scene, they found two people with multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims received medical care and were transported to a trauma hospital by helicopter.

An investigation into the situation found Childress and Lewis were the prime suspects in the attack.

In the early morning hours of April 26, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office collaborated with US Marshals to execute an arrest warrant on the two suspects. Childress and Lewis were located and taken into custody without incident.

Childress is being held on a total bond of $300,000, while Lewis’ bond is set at $125,000.
