🚗Your weekly traffic update: Houston Rodeo Parade Route and Street Closures

What better way to kick off your weekend than to attend the Houston Downtown Rodeo Parade? From horses to decorative floats, there’s a lot to look forward to. With thousands of people expected, be sure to plan your route.

The Parade Route

The start of the parade will begin on Bagby and Walker Streets. It will then travel from Travis to Bell, and from Bell to Louisiana. The route will then end on Lamar and Bagby. To secure a great viewing spot be sure to check out Louisiana, from Bell to Lamar, Lamar, and from Louisiana to Smith. But keep in mind, Bagby and Walker, from Sabine to Bagby, will be off limits.

Parade Parking

The best way to tackle parking is to arrive early! Garages in the downtown Houston area and the Theater District will be great options. However, be sure to give yourself extra time if you’d like to compare pricing before selecting a space.

Street Closures

If you are traveling throughout the Houston area, you’ve probably noticed prep for the big event. On Saturday, be sure to expect street closures for the parade and Rodeo Run between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Some of the closures include:

From 9:00 a.m. Friday to 3:00 p.m. Saturday

• North curb lane of 400 McKinney St between Bagby St and Smith St

• East curb lane of 800 Smith St between Rusk St and Walker St

From 12:00 p.m. Friday to 2:00 p.m. Saturday

• East and west curb lanes of Sabine St between Memorial Dr and Allen Parkway

• East curb lane of Gillette St between W Dallas and Allen Parkway

• Crosby between W Dallas and Allen Parkway

• Heiner St between W Dallas and Allen Parkway
