Actor Jon Hamm on Drake’s million dollar bed and why future focused businesses should lead with love

Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actor, Jon Hamm, sat down for a chat with Houston Life’s Melanie Camp.

HOUSTON – Filling us in on some of latest projects, Hamm said he enjoyed some time in Texas recently while filming the new Taylor Sheridan drama Landman in Fort Worth with Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton. Currently, Hamm is in new York City, “...getting ready to start my new show for Apple called My friends and Neighbors,” he said.

Somewhere in between all the filming, Hamm found time to narrate the audiobook adaption of “When Business is Love,” written by CEO Jan Ryde. The book tells the story Hästens, a luxury, family-owned bed manufacturing business. Ryde is the Swedish firm’s CEO and the fifth-generation family member to lead the company since its founding in 1852.

With a reputation for creating “the finest beds in the world,” the company has some impressive clientele. Even rapper and singer, Drake, is a fan, collaborating with Hästens to create a bed that now sells for seven figures!

Beyond beds for people with Drake kinda money, the company does have less expensive inventory. “Obviously not all of their beds cost that much money ,” said Hamm who, for the record, said he has “sampled the product.”

Having worked successfully for many years in the often cutthroat world of entertainment, Hamm shared one of the takeaways he gleaned from the book, “Part of it is leading with gratitude for what you have and not so much leading with FOMO or worrying about what you don’t have.”
